Forestry Mulching: One Pass, Clean Ground

Our tracked forestry mulcher chews brush, saplings and small trees into a layer of mulch right where they stand. No piles to burn, nothing to haul, and the ground is protected from erosion the same day.

How forestry mulching works

A forestry mulcher is a heavy tracked machine with a spinning drum of carbide teeth on the front. It drives into standing brush and trees up to roughly 8–10 inches in diameter and grinds them into chips on the spot. The result is a clean, walkable surface covered in a natural mulch layer that breaks down over a season or two.

Why property owners choose mulching over traditional clearing

  • Faster and cheaper on brushy land — one machine, one pass, no separate hauling
  • No burn piles or debris left behind
  • Low ground impact — the mulch layer prevents erosion and the tracks are gentle on soil
  • Keeps the good trees — the operator steers around anything you want to save
  • Great for hunting land, trails, fence lines, pasture reclamation and understory cleanup

When mulching isn't the right tool

If you're building on the site, mulching alone won't get you there — stumps and roots stay in the ground. For construction pads and driveways we combine mulching with excavation and grading. We'll tell you honestly which approach fits your goal.

Forestry Mulching FAQ

How big of a tree can a forestry mulcher handle?

Comfortably up to about 8–10 inches in diameter. Larger trees we fell and process separately, then mulch what's left.

Does mulching leave the land ready to build on?

No — stumps and root systems remain below the mulch. For a buildable pad you'll need stump removal and grading, which we also do.

How many acres can you mulch in a day?

Anywhere from one to several acres depending on density and terrain. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the estimate.
