Questions

Land Clearing FAQ

How much does it cost to clear an acre of land in Sullivan County?

Light brush and saplings can be a fraction of the cost of clearing mature timber with stumps. Access, terrain and what you want done with the wood all matter. That's why we give firm written estimates after walking the property — call for a free on-site quote.

What's the difference between forestry mulching and land clearing?

Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees into mulch in place — fast, clean, no hauling, but stumps stay in the ground. Full land clearing removes trees, stumps and debris and grades the site so it's buildable. We do both and will recommend the right one for your goal.

Do I need a permit to clear land in New York?

Not always, but work near streams, wetlands, steep slopes or within certain town zones can require NYS DEC or local approval. We'll identify anything that needs a permit before work begins.

Can you keep some of the trees?

Absolutely. Selective clearing — keeping mature shade trees, a privacy screen along the road, or the sugar maples — is something we do every week. Walk the property with us and flag what stays.

What happens to the logs and brush?

Your choice: hauled away, chipped into mulch on site, stacked as firewood, or sold as timber when it has value.

How soon can you start?

Smaller jobs can often be scheduled within a couple of weeks; larger clearing and excavation projects are booked further out, especially spring through fall. Call early and we'll get you on the calendar.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Ultimate Forestry LLC is fully insured, BBB A+ rated, and we'll provide a certificate of insurance on request.
